About
The sjwa (ǝ) is the most common sound in the Dutch language: unstressed, almost silent, and present in every sentence. It is a sound the language needs to function, and a sound that goes unmentioned. The designers who have the most to say about the Netherlands right now are the same: essential, present, and long overdue a room of their own.
Stichting Sjwa was established in 2026 with the statutory objective to promote connection between these international designers and the creative landscape of the Netherlands. The foundation has no profit motive, and adheres to the Governance Code for Culture, Fair Practice Code and the Diversity & Inclusion Code.
